You know that ravenous feeling when you are starving and the only thing that sounds is something that you can open in a package like a present? It is almost insulting that they wrap junk food like a gift. It doesn't seem fair either that they make it taste better than health food. Part of the appeal of non-healthy food is that it is easy, convenient, tastes good, and you can enjoy it with friends and family in a happy setting. Triggers can be thoughts, emotions, or a physical need. Rewarding these triggers is what sets in bad habits and reinforces the triggers. As I was cutting out convenience food, I had to replace it with healthy options. I love food, so not eating was out of the question. While I changed my eating habits I saw weight loss results right away. It took a few more weeks for the urges to go away. But, they did go away and I started to long for healthy food instead.   • Thoughts. Start with your thoughts and your mind. Make a vision board of healthy food. You can cut out pictures or make a collage on your computer. Now post it somewhere so you can look at it everyday. Your brain loves pictures and will positively crave the things it looks at. Picture yourself eating and preparing healthy snacks and foods.
  • Essential oils. If you haven't tried essential oils yet, now is a good time. One of the best qualities they posses is to help curb cravings. They can regulate your blood sugar so that you don't feel that dip and get the to ravenous and starving state. Be choosy and only use the best quality essential oils for effectiveness.
  • Chew gum. If you chew peppermint flavored gum, you can satisfy the need for oral stimulation and curb cravings at the same time. Peppermint has the ability to help you feel full.
